By most standards, we are not very healthy in the United States. And that is odd since we are among the wealthiest nations in the world. But linking wealth to better health has not been an easy task.

A recently released study by the National Center for Health Statistics shows that from 2021 to 2023 the prevalence of obesity in adults was just more than 40%. And for those 40-59, the rate was even more alarming at 46%. Perhaps equally disturbing is the rate of obesity in children, which is just under 20%. The CDC indicates that 14.7 million U.S. children are obese.
