During a Jan. 28 meeting, the Lakeville Area School Board voted to replace a series of inclusive posters that have been dispersed throughout the district since 2021 with new posters displaying “academic and extracurricular excellence.” More than 100 community members attended the public meeting, with lines out the door to the district office.
During the 30-minute public comment session, district residents, teachers, and students shared mixed opinions about the proposed removal of the posters. The 4-3 vote to remove the posters was made in the midst of an ongoing lawsuit against the district regarding two of the posters that read “Black Lives Matter.”
