Amidst the current rollout of Cannabis legalization throughout the state, the Blaine City Council on Jan. 6 held first readings of both an amendment to the city’s zoning ordinance to accommodate Cannabis businesses, as well as an ordinance adopting Chapter 7 on regulating cannabis adult use businesses into City Code.

On the zoning ordinance, Community Development Director Erik Thorvig said that cannabis retail and/or medical cannabis businesses were being included as permitted uses, and that registration was being allowed in: Community Commercial, Regional Commercial, Planned Business District and County Road 10 mixed use.
