Opioids

The county’s Public Health department is starting to use its allotment of the opioid settlement funds from the state.

As part of its consent agenda for the Nov. 26 meeting, the Houston County Board of Commissioners (BOC) approved Opioid (Fund 12) expenditures based on the recommendation of the local Opioid Settlement Collaborative. Public Health and Human Services Director John Pugleasa said a community group was established which put together a request for proposals (RFP) process, and that this request to pay expenditures is the outcome of that first RFP process. He explained that the state funds go into Fund 12, but then must be moved to the Public Health fund to pay expenditures.
