When citizens go to the polls this fall, economic conditions will have a major influence on their votes. They will have plenty of factors, both good and bad, to consider.

Nationally, the economy appears to have remained solid under the Biden administration. Gross Domestic Product whipsawed coming out of the pandemic, growing 5.95% in 2021 (fifth highest annual rate since 1960), 1.94% in 2022 (16th lowest since 1960) and 2.5% in 2023 (near the average).
