The Houston County Board of Commissioners (HCBOC) held a special board meeting on Dec. 11 to address ongoing concerns and a proposed ordinance regarding cannabis businesses in the county.
The discussion, attended by county officials, residents, and stakeholders, delved into licensing limits, zoning restrictions, proximity rules, and compliance with state laws. While officials initially intended to use the meeting to adopt the ordinance, it was ultimately determined the rules would require further refinement, and the ordinance's adoption was postponed until the full board meeting Dec. 31.
