This weekend’s warmer temperatures brought hundreds of families to downtown Lakeville’s Holiday on Main shopping event. It was warm enough for shoppers to enjoy ice cream samples at Dairy Delite.
Families stopped inside the Better Half for holiday-themed coloring and hot chocolate. Each participating business on Holyoke Avenue had special treats or activities for children.
A holiday-themed storytime took place inside of Niche Books during Holiday on Main. The bookstore opened in June and features a large selection of books for children and youths.
Lakeville’s Dakota Curling Club gave live demonstrations at the practice rink on the backside of Holyoke Avenue at the Holiday on Main event. Club members practice weekly and give curling lessons to youths on Sundays.
An art sale took place inside the Lakeville Area Arts Center over the weekend. Local artists sold holiday-themed work, including hand-crafted ceramic soup bowls that community members can use to get free soup at Thursday’s Pub Night.
Inside the Fine Arts Building, children created holiday-themed door tags that were delivered to the Heritage Center and Estoria Cooperative for residents to decorate their doors with.

On Saturday, hundreds of Lakeville families took advantage of the warm December weather to participate in this year’s Holiday on Main shopping and scavenger hunt event. It was the 27th year of the annual event.
Businesses along Holyoke Avenue provided children with treats, activities, and prizes while kids searched for images inside the stores. Inside the Arts Center, families could take photos with Santa Claus, shop handmade gifts by local artists at an art sale, and create door tags for local senior centers. A trolley transported participants around downtown Lakeville.
