On Saturday, the Lakeville Rotary and Lions Clubs teamed up with Iowa-based nonprofit Outreach Program to pack about 32,000 meals for food pantries and banks in Dakota County. It was the first time the two organizations collaborated for a service event.
"Together our impact increases exponentially," said Rotary President Laurie Bolin.
The Lakeville Rotary and Lions Clubs gathered at the Lakeville Heritage Center on Saturday to pack thousands of meals for Dakota County residents in need.
The meal-packing was led by Outreach Program Brainerd Lakes. The nonprofit distributes meals formulated at Iowa State University that only require boiling water to make.
All of the meals packed at the Lions and Rotary event in November were delivered to Dakota County food pantries and banks through nonprofits 360 Communities, The Open Door and The Link. “I’m a retired teacher and I know there are kids in need of these meals,” said one volunteer.
