Growing MontiArts into a full-fledged artistic force has proven to be a double-edged sword for founding director Sue Seeger, who recently stepped down into a smaller role after leading the arts organization for the past six years.

When the 60-year-old took the helm of the experimental city-led program in 2008, she never imagined what it would grow into — a celebrated focal point of art, creativity and connection that other communities throughout the region now view as a model.
